**STOP PRESS** Day one unfair dismissal rights abandoned

Labour have just announced that they are abandoning their proposal to make unfair dismissal a day one right for employees. Instead, they now plan to reduce the time needed to claim unfair dismissal to six months.

Whilst drastically reducing the period of time needed to bring a claim, it will at least give employers time to assess whether a new employee is up to the job.
